Beef Keema with Peas
Weeknight spiced ground beef and peas over fluffy basmati

Ingredients
- ground beef400 g
- basmati rice1 cup
- frozen peas1½ cups
- yellow onion1 ea
- garlic3 cloves
- gingera thumb
- curry powder2 tbsp
- on the vine tomato2 ea
- cilantroa handful
Method

1Rice on
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Add the basmati rice to a pot with 1½ cups salted water and bring to a boil.
- Cover, reduce to the lowest heat, and cook 12 minutes until the water is absorbed.
- Let it rest with the lid on for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.

2Brown the beef
- Meanwhile, heat 1 tbsp oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook 5 minutes, breaking it up, until browned.
- Add the diced onion and cook 3 minutes until softened.

3Spice and simmer
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger and curry powder and cook 1 minute until fragrant.
- Chop the tomatoes, add them with 1/2 cup water, and simmer 5 minutes until saucy.
- Stir in the peas and simmer 3 minutes.
- Season to taste with salt.

4Plate
- Spoon the rice into two bowls.
- Top with the keema and garnish with the cilantro.
